INTERNATIONAL AUTOMATED SYSTEMS PRESS RELEASE

18 SEPTEMBER 1996

Neldon Johnson, CEO and President of International Automated Systems (IAUS:OTC Bulletin Boards -IAS), today announced that IAS has signed a product development and marketing agreement with GIGATEK Inc. of Taiwan ROC on September 1st. 1996. GIGATEK is a multi-million dollar company that manufactures door locks, mag-stripe readers, verifones, time clocks and other high tech security equipment.

GIGATEK will incorporate and sell the IAS fingerprinting technology known as the Automatic Fingerprint Identification Machine (AFIM), that has been developed and patented by IAS. "We are very pleased about this signed contract ," said Johnson, " since GIGATEK is a multinational corporation active in manufacturing and selling products on an international basis. IAS' AFIM technology will expand GIGATEK's existing product applications and also enable entrance into new market sectors."

Patented IAS Fingerprint technology does not require a cumbersome, expensive and non-portable data base, rather, it can hold digitized information on a credit card sized media that matches a person's fingerprint to the card. This portable and safe application allows the card holder secure and easy access.

GIGATEK'S first application will be time clocks which not only prevent fraud by insuring that employees are in fact checking in themselves, but also can automatically compute and input employee information needed for company payroll systems.
